# Introducing the FLEXE Token (coming soon)

**`FLEXE is the native governance token of the Flex Ecosystem, offering unique utilities beyond governance.`**

With FLEXE, users can access partner products at free or discounted rates and earn rewards by sharing their data. Projects can utilize the Proof-of-Collaboration mechanism to earn FLEXE by implementing collaborative strategies within the Flex ecosystem. Additionally, FLEXE provides membership access to a wide range of Web3 infrastructure products and services partnered with Flex.

The primary governance utilities of FLEXE are applicable across all major components of the Flex ecosystem, including but not limited to:

**Flex Validator Nodes:** Validators can stake FLEXE to earn accelerated node rewards. [Learn more here.](/flex-docs/protocol/flex-validator-nodes/rewards-layer.md)

**Proof-of-Collaboration (PoCol):** FLEXE aligns the mutual interests of all actors in the Flex ecosystem, including projects, community, node operators, etc. [Discover how PoCol uses FLEXE to facilitate multi-party, multi-variate collaboration. ](/flex-docs/protocol/proof-of-collaboration-pocol.md)

**Flex Commons:** Staking FLEXE regulates IP and code reputation, enables IP-sharing and reuse agreements among projects, and helps resolve disputes. [Read about the various utilities for FLEXE for the Flex Commons ecosystem IP protocol. ](/flex-docs/protocol/flex-commons.md)

**Ecosystem tokens' multi-staking:** FLEXE stakers earn yield in multiple tokens from projects building on and partnering with Flex. This is a symbiotic relationship wherein the partner project bootstraps users by distributing tokens to an active community, while FLEXE stakers are directly incentivized to engage with new projects.

**Flex Improvement Proposals (FIPs):** Proposers of protocol improvements are required to stake FLEXE tokens to demonstrate seriousness of intent.

**Flex Portal:** Projects can stake and spend FLEXE to prioritize listing, and earn preferential display spots on the Flex Portal, benefitting from its wide distribution. [Learn more.](/flex-docs/protocol/flex-portal-your-gateway-to-web3.md)

Future-planned initiatives for projects on the technical roadmap, such as the [Flex Virtual Machine](/flex-docs/protocol/technical-roadmap-for-the-flex-ecosystem/flex-virtual-machine-fvm.md) and the [Flex SDCK](/flex-docs/protocol/technical-roadmap-for-the-flex-ecosystem/flex-sdck.md) are also harbingers of various additional utilities for FLEXE tokens.
